Foley and Sounds

Not only do I plan on making more, but I also already started Foley sounds. For example, so far I have screams, footsteps outside and inside, going up stairs, nighttime, shower, and heavy breathing. However, I plan on remaking the footsteps, nighttime, and breathing all over again because there is too much background noise. I plan on adding more Foley sounds too. For instance, putting on makeup, texting noises. and falling on wooden floor. This might make it more abstract and authentic. 

For Foley sounds, I am recording them using the Voice Memos app on my iPhone and I plan on using an earbuds mic for the future Foley sounds.

Here's me recording the indoor footsteps! I know I should've brought a mic of some sort, but I didn't, which is why I have to rerecord some of the sounds.

Distribution

 As I am not a high paying director, I can't distribute the movie on all streaming services like Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, etc. I also don't have the recourses to distribute in theaters. 

Therefore, I decided I would distribute the film on YouTube. Anyone could publish something on YouTube for free, so it is perfect. My target audience also happens to be very prominent on YouTube. 95% of teenagers as of 2022 are on the platform. It would help my movie spread as more people could discover it on their feed. Moreover, it is easily accessible to individuals all over the world.

I would also distribute my films within film festivals in my area. For instance, FREAK Show Horror Film Festival in Orlando, Outshine Film Festival in Miami, and Tampa Bay Screams. These are the few selected so far, but I imagine that as time progresses, I will be able to contact more festivals and help it become more popular.

Costumes

 Lily: 

The reason I chose for Lily to wear pink, was to highlight her feminine side, which is also portrayed as she puts on her makeup. I wanted to make it typical to normal horror movies as she is the first to die and doesn't go about it smartly. Overall, I just wanted to portray that she is a conceited girl that only cares about makeup. 

Vida: 

Blue was chosen for Vida for many reasons. Based on the color theory, blue means honesty, trustworthy, and loyalty. These are specific traits that I wanted for Vida, as she is supposed to be a liked and trustworthy character who is put in a situation that she doesn't deserve. 

Killer/Alice: 

A full black outfit was chosen for various reasons. First, to be able to hide in the night and not be seen. But also because of the color theory. Based on it, black means power and evil, which are specific traits for Alice. It is also just a typical look that is chosen for killers or villains in film. 

Props and Set Design

 The props that I used throughout the film were very useful and were great purchases. 

For example, the fake blood was amazing and worked perfectly. It was also washable! It was very easy to work with and made the death scene look more realistic. We just applied it using a spray and then spread it out using toilet paper. 

I also added the detail of a "cuatro", which is a Venezuelan guitar to add the further detail of her culture. I added a close up shot of the guitar in the film, which is when I plan on having the credits shown on screen.

Lastly, I added the detail of the softball and the bat. This adds the representation of the fact that she plays softball and shows her dedication and almost messiness, as she just leaves it on her TV stand.

Filming

 So.... I just finished filming! I think I liked a bunch of the shots and how it turned out!

I did have some obstacles though....

To begin with, I got to the set (my friend's house) 40 minutes late due to the fact that I can't drive by myself and need my parents to drive me places. Therefore, my friend's parents were annoyed at us for starting late and for filming at their house. Then, my parents got annoyed after about two hours of filming because they didn't want me taking as long as I was taking. So, this just added extra stress. However, we were able to calm the parents by reassuring them that we will finish quicker! 

Next, one of my actors had a volleyball tournament and was an hour delayed. She mentioned beforehand how she would get to the house at 9pm. However, she left the tournament at 9:30pm and it was a 30 minute drive and she still needed to change into her killer outfit. Since the parents were annoyed with us, we decided to just have the actor who plays Vida, also play Alice. We finished filming about an hour later, but it would've turned out a lot better if it was a different character, as it may seem obvious throughout the film. 

Finally, I had brought a tripod to film, but it was kind of broken. One of the parts kept falling down, which was quite frustrating. 

I was forced to hold it up while filming, so I hope that the shots didn't come out shaky, unless it was intended.

All in all, I should've planned out my scheduling better and change the dates if one of the actors isn't sure that they can make it to film that night. I should also be more aware of my products that I use, and make sure they work before filming.

Screenplay

 So I decided to be professional and make a script for my opening scene. I don't think I'll have that much dialogue but my actors can use it so that they know what they're doing.

Although I barely have dialogue, I thought it might be best to also have a written story board since my drawings are terrible.

Target Audience

In the Horror genre, target audiences are normally is mostly male 15-25. However, since my film will be following a mainly female cast, I decided that my target audience will be mostly females 15-25 that are students. Also, since my film is following a Highschool softball team, people who like baseball/softball will also be targeted to watch this film. Lastly, Hispanic people are also targeted, as culture is something really important for my main character. There will be aspects of this in her room and in her family (that would've been incorporated later in the film, if I were to one day create the full film). Although most target audiences include a social economic class, mine isn't highly considered; but if it was, it'd be middle class.
